Century of Self: My top 6 places to sleep in Mongolia

I’m still freezing out there, even though it’s getting close to spring. If you think your winter is bad, try this! Last time, they nearly didn’t let me out of the goat pen, after which I really wanted a shower. See more of what I mean in my master post and my photo post.

Anyways, my favourite time! I tell you more about Mongolia. This time, I’m focussing on an important part of everyones trip, where to sleep!

I’ve stayed in all of these places. So this is kind of what I recommend for you and where I’ll stay when I get back there.

Century of Self: Finding Temples in Terelji National Park

If you’ve looked into my master post or my photo post, you’ll know I once woke up in a yurt  with a goat at the foot of my bed in – 20°C.

This is the trip it happened on.

Judith was off with family to do some exploring of her own, so I decided to do the same.

Nosing around in Ulaanbaatar revealed I had missed two tours by a day, which was slightly annoying. The only logical conclusion? Go on a tour on my own of course!

Century of Self: Blown away in the Gobi desert

Time to head south! Sadly not to get warm, but instead to freeze again. A place almost never visited in winter, the Gobi desert has a lure to it I certainly can’t resist.

After telling you about my favourite or dream things to do in Mongolia, it’s now all about independent adventures. For unseen photos, check out my photo post, or head straight to my masterpost for an overview of what I’ve been up to.

Century of Self: My Top 10 things to do in Mongolia

Enough freezing for a change! Last time I nearly didn’t make it back from a mountain pass, which was enough adventure for now. See my master post or my photo post for more adventures!

So it’s time for more tips! While I love food, I also love doing things and exploring as much as I can outside of large cities. Just sticking to the capitals isn’t my style and I know I’m not one for big cities.

Except New York. That’s an exception so far, because… well, because it’s New York.

Anyways, back to Mongolia. I’ve done a few of these things and others I haven’t, but plan on doing so. So this is kind of what I recommend for you and what I want to do when I get back there.

Century of Self: Last of the wild Takhi horses

Yep, this time is about horses too. Last time I went riding, which was a cold outing. This time we’re heading away a bit further to see horses. No riding this time.

For more photos of this incredible experience, take a peek into my photo post. And of course my master post, to check out what else in this series.

Sabina wasn’t just here to teach. She had to dedicate a part of her time  to her job back in Switzerland, where she was a journalist.

The topic she chose was Przewalski’s horses (Takhi horses in Mongolian). I have to admit, I’d never heard of them before.

Still, adventure time!
